  • A genus of fungi within the phylum Zygomycota that are ubiquitous in nature and generally not considered pathogenic. Most members of the Rhizomucor genus are thermophillic, produce sporangiophores, sporangiospores, and sporangia, and produce rudimentary rhizoids. Though rarely shown to be agents of infection, Rhizomucor species may cause zygomycosis.
